Summary
Acclaimed musician and performance artist Laurie Anderson presents her meditation on love and death through her relationship with her beloved terrier Lolabelle.
Dedicated to Anderson’s late husband Lou Reed, HEART OF A DOG is catalyzed by the recent passing of Lolabelle who serves as friend and muse in the film. Anderson intersects her childhood, music, politics, life as an artist, and a deep bond with Lolabelle in this playful, lucid, and heartbreaking nonfiction feature. Anderson uses the film to fondly guide Lolabelle beyond tribulations in a life after death. Aided by her beautiful compositions, animation and 8 millimeter film from her family archive, Anderson creates a gorgeous tapestry on love and loss – reminding us that every love story is a ghost story.
